Hi, I'm Megan!
I began knitting in college, after I had a terrible bout of Artist's block. Frustrated with my inability to "create" using my typical tools (paintbrushes, pastels, pens, pencils, ANYTHING), my roommate taught me how to knit. As any knitter knows, it's tough going at first! Dropped stitches and a scarf that starts out long and lean... and somehow ends up tapering off at the ends (like some kind of funny-looking trapezoid). But I persevered, knowing that at the time, this was the only creative outlet that I felt that I had.
An interesting fact about me: I learned to knit from a Leftie! It took me quite a while to learn how to translate what she was doing into a right-handed position. And when I was done, as it turns out, I knit in the "Continental" or "English style" instead of the American "Throwing" style. While I CAN knit in the American style, Continental is what feels right for me. And when you think about it, when you're learning "backwards" from a Leftie, Continental actually makes sense!
Ever since then, I have kept knitting by my side, as a hobby, as well as a creative outlet. I love continuing to grow my repertoire by trying new designs, patterns, and yarns. During the pandemic, I even taught myself to crochet!
I still don't pick up paint brushes, but I certainly can paint with a needle and yarn.
Cheers!
